About me
I am a visual artist, documentary filmmaker, and researcher working at the intersection of photography, ethnography, and critical inquiry. For fifteen years, my practice has moved across South Asia and North America, tracking what is systematically made invisible — the unremunerated labour of women, the silenced memories of Partition survivors, and various tribes. These communities bear the cost of decisions made far away.
My work does not separate making from thinking. I use the camera — alone, or in the hands of participants — as a way of knowing that reaches where prose alone cannot.
My photographs have been exhibited in Delhi and the United States. My films have screened at Sarai/Devi Art Foundation, Awaam ka Cinema, and internationally. I hold an M.S. in Professional Media Practice from Southern Illinois University, where I also taught photography and film. I am a recipient of the Global Talent Award from Jamia Millia Islamia University, 2020.
